Mission

  1. Light up South Africa during the periods where they are affected by loadshedding as well as help the country while they endure all of the negative by-products from this ongoing crisis.
  2. Provide power to people in South Africa without access to the luxury and opportunities that come with electricity.
  3. We reach out to our partner charities that are committed to helping South Africa in various ways in this trying time. We also educate the community on this issue which many people do not know about. We also provide more eco-friendly solutions to the power crisis. Most of South Africa is still reliant on coal, perhaps changing to more renewable forms of energy will create a more lasting impact.
  4. We create community gardens in rural areas that harvest energy rich crops and foods that can be stored in new refrigeration units.

Our Founder

Jake Chisvin

"My first memory of load shedding was when I was seven years old. I was in a mall with my grandmother and all of the electricity went out. It was completely black. You could not even see your own hand. People all over over the country experience this every day. Everyone has the right to electricity."

Jake lives in Los Angeles, California and is a junior at Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences. He has gone to South Africa many times to visit his family since he was a couple months old. Jake believes that all South Africa deserve the right to electricity no matter where they live, socioeconomic status, or what level of loadshedding it is.
